The most common mistake here is repeating the Results chapter. Your committee already knows what the numbers are; now they want to know what they mean in the context of your original Basis of Critique. You must explain the relationship between your findings—the parts—and the broader clinical or academic landscape—the whole.

A professional Discussion chapter returns to the Theoretical Framework you established in Chapter 1. If your results don't align with the theory, you must explain why. This is where you address the "nuanced point of view." Perhaps the theory was limited, or perhaps the site-specific stakeholders influenced the outcome in a way the theory didn't predict.
